Hi there!Five days is not too old, although typically tails should be docked at about 2-3 days of age. The bigger question is why dock the tail; there is no medical need to do this in any breed, it hurts and it can lead to long term problems in some dogs, depending on the method of amputation. If you decide to have it done, ask your veterinarian to use local anesthetic (it's not often used, unfortunately), but I would recommend against having it done to begin with.Hope this helps!
