Customer Question

Three days ago my 13 year old Pomeranian had BNT put in her ears. Since then she cannot hear - Is this a temporary condition? She could hear great before they put in the medication.

Hello. I'm sorry to hear about your dog. It sounds like there were probably punctures or holes in the ear drums. This can lead to vertigo signs and deafness if topical medications are used. We don't always see the ruptured ear drum, so this is something that can happen on occasion. Usually the deafness is temporary. It may last a few days, or up to a month or two. The hearing should return once the cochlea heals in each ear. I would not use any more topical meds in the ears from now on. I would go with oral antibiotics when treating ear infections in the future. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
