Hello, I'm Dr Gary. I've been practicing veterinary medicine since 2007. I look forward to helping with your questions/ concerns.
It sounds like you may need to try an anti-inflammatory medication if the natural remedies are not controlling the pain. I typically use Rimadyl to control these signs in older dogs. It's most likely due to some type of degenerative joint disease/ arthritis.
The other thing that can be helpful, is glucosamine/ chondroitin supplements. This just helps to lubricate the joints and slow down the degradation. Omega 3 fatty acids can also be helpful for chronic joint discomfort.
I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
