Hi Sir or Madam,
My name is ***** ***** I’'ve been involved professionally with dogs in the health and behavioral fields for over 18 years. It will be my pleasure to work with you today.
Usually puppies should be visible at approximately 21-23 days on an ultrasound. So by day 28, they should be evident by an EXPERIENCED ultrasound specialist. Since sperm can live for up to 5 days inside the female before conception occurs, I'd repeat the ultrasound in a week or so to be certain if you have had it done and none were seen.
There are other methods available to determine pregnancy as well such as x-rays after day 45 since the bones should be starting to calcify then and be able to be seen. If you haven't had any imaging done, I'd just wait till the 7-8th week and then have an x-ray so you will have an accurate count of puppies if she is pregnant.
I hope you found my reply helpful. If you need further clarification or more information, please reply and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
