Dog is shaking and she is taking medications albon and panacur for worms
This is Dr. Devlin, I'm so sorry to hear about Zoey.

Is Zoey on any other medications? In particular, one called metronidazole ( also called flagyl).

I'm assuming she has had diarrhea or a positive fecal? Has anything been diagnosed?

Any other health problems or symptoms I should know about?

I'll be standing by to help!

Has hookworms coccidia was given medes to help stop worms

Thank you. Any chance she is also taking the metronidazole medication I mentioned?

No other meds except for Albon and panacur

Thank you.

Neither of those medications should cause neurologic symptoms, tremors, trembling, etc.

The medications are generally safe and well-tolerated at typical doses.

As the hookworms are killed the dead and dying worms can release toxins that can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Zoey may be having some discomfort as the worms are being killed off. This should be mild and self-limiting and I would expect improvement within 12-24 hours.

Certainly if she worsens I would follow up with your veterinarian or ER vet.

I would not recommend adding in any other medications right now. Feeding small meals (bland foods like chicken and rice) may be helpful while she recovers.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope she is feeling better soon!
