Hi, thanks for your question! We try to avoid using medicines in pregnant or lactating females when possible, but if there's truly an infection, sometimes we have little choice. There are no adequate studies that have been performed to prove the safety of Clavamox in lactating females, but there also is no compelling evidence that there is any significant risk. Therefore, if your veterinarian feels that it is medically necessary to use this antibiotic, I'd say it's reasonable to go ahead as directed.
