Dr. Andy :

I am sorry to hear about this concern. I will wait for you to respond so we can discuss.

Customer:

We are here?

Dr. Andy :

Hello, unfortunately, we don't have any good specific symptoms to work with to know what they underlying problem can be. We can't really say its a musculoskeletal problem, a digestive upset issue, etc...

Dr. Andy :

Sometimes, this type of agitation can be due to abdominal problems or stomach upset. One consideration. Just in case, it wouldn't hurt to give an antacid.

Dr. Andy :

To help settle the stomach you could try one of the following drugs. My favorite product is Pepcid (an over-the-counter antacid).

Pepcid comes in 10mg or 20mg tablets. You can give it every 12 hours.

Pepcid

.

Prilosec

.

Zantac

Customer:

he hasn't ate today, we fixed his food but he didn't eat

Dr. Andy :

Also, you should find out what happened while you were gone. Was he eating? Any diarrhea? etc...

Customer:

My 20yr old son said nothing unusal

Dr. Andy :

Certainly, we can reasonably assume that your being gone did take some toll on him this time around.

Customer:

We live in SFL, after he did the zoomie thing Frenchies do he seemed to be overheated

Customer:

so I took a cool wash cloth and bathed him under arms and stomach, around his neck put ice in the wash cloth and cooled down his face

Dr. Andy :

Dog's are predisposed to heat stroke, and it can really make them feel sick.

Customer:

took about an hour to stop him from panting...under a fan, but he still wouldn't sit or lay down for about 30 more minutes.

Dr. Andy :

I just can't pinpoint what proportion of the problem is attributed to the recent activities versus you being gone versus any other digestive upset.

Customer:

you think this is an upset stomach?

Dr. Andy :

The antacid is the only safe and possibly helpful suggestion I can give. If possible, you can always take a rectal temperature. Anything over 103.0 would be of concern.

Dr. Andy :

Not sure. So tough.

Dr. Andy :

I can only make some educated guesses. During his exercise he could have even gotten a little soft tissue injury that is making him uncomfortable. A guess.

Customer:

What else should we be worried about?

Dr. Andy :

The only non-steroidal that is recommened over-the-counter is aspirin. But, it can be a bit hard on the stomach.

Dr. Andy :

You can find the dose for aspirin in the following link:

Aspirin

***Do not give aspirin or any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication if your pet is already on prednisone or any other anti-inflammatory medication***

Severe stomach and intestinal ulcers can result from giving a pet aspirin, Tylenol or ibuprofen when they are also on medications like Rimadyl, Deramaxx, Prednisone, Metecam, Zubrin, and Previcox***

Dr. Andy :

If you give any apsirin, I would give the Pepcid A.C. at least an hour beforehand.

Customer:

he has been a perfectly healthy dog until this episode.

Dr. Andy :

Other concerns: Continued pacing, pain with gentle pressure on the belly, refusing to eat, a temperature over 103.0.

Dr. Andy :

Understood.

Dr. Andy :

That is why I must be suspicious for something that happened while you were gone or during the zoomies.

Customer:

at least this is something. thanks

Dr. Andy :

I don't think I can offer any more info at this point.

Dr. Andy :

Yep. Tough question to pinpoint to anything in particular.

Dr. Andy :

You are welcome.

Customer:

Dog is now lying down, seems to be sleeping, slightly shivering?

Dr. Andy :

I know you are already offline. There isn't really anything further I could comment on for a satisfactory answer. I am still concerned that any degree of shivering is still persisting. Make sure to get him into a vet if things persist.

Sorry for the delayed reply. I just got back from Urgent Care with my 2 year old daughter.

Good Luck
