Walter :

If you could answer a few questions that would be very helpful.

Walter :

What caused the limping?

Walter :

Was she doing any excercise or play time when it started or was it sudden?

Walter :

If it was not sudden was it gradual? (Starting out as a slight limp then progressing worse)

Walter :

Has she had any new medications or medical conditions lately?

Walter :

And lastly, does she show any pain when limping or when you touch her legs/hips/back?

Customer:

Thank you fo ryour help. It doesnt seem to be getting worse, but it's not getting any better.

Customer:

We took her to the park and she was fine walking home. But, about an hour later is when it started. Before then, every once in a while she would limp after naps and in the morning when she woke up. I thought it was maybe because she slept on it wrong.

Customer:

She doesnt' take any medicine right now. She is only going to be 2 on Oct. 29th of this year. She is a full bred American Bulldog.

Walter :

Thanks for the additional information, it sounds like she may have some hip issues here and something at the park has triggered a more sever reaction. At this age we must be careful because Hip problems often start at this age in many breeds including the bulldog.

Since she has had some slight problems before with this I do not suspect a broken leg or anything of that nature, but I do suspect she may have some hip issues. Dysplasia is common in this breed at this age so she really needs to be checked out by your vet. A quick xray of the hips and legs will indicate if this is dysplasia or other hip problems. If it is your vet can go over your options and get started on treatment. It is NOT advisable to let this go, because over time the limp can progress to deformation and even loss of the leg depending on what the cause is.

Customer:

We have tried laying her on her back and moving her left leg around a bit and she doesn't seem to be in too much pain. I am just not sure where the problem is stemming from. Her leg, back, or hips.

Customer:

Okay, thank you so much for your help :) I will take her to the vet this week.

Walter :

Your very welcome. If you need anything at all please use the reply button. If you are satisfied with my answer please do not forget to click the accept button and leave feedback about your experience with me.
