Dogs can take azithromycin. According to my reading, one dosage is stated to be 5mg per kg of body weight twice daily for 5 days. That said, I would never recommend giving a prescription drug - like an antibiotic - without first having an exam being done by a veterinarian. Different antibiotics are effective against different infections. If a dog has some underlying problems - some drugs would be not recommended for them. It would be taking an unnecessary risk to give an antibiotic without first having an examination.
