It won't do any harm, but I am not sure it will help that much, either. If he has really moist skin, the baking soda might help to dry it out, but it won't help much with the itch. How long has he been itchy? A common reason for dogs to be itchy, is an allergic reaction to something. You can give Benedryl (diphenhydramine, available over the counter), one milligram per 1 to 2 pounds of body weight, every 6 to 12 hours for itching. A good shampoo for itchy skin is an oatmeal shampoo, like Aveeno, or an oatmeal shampoo from a pet supple store. If the itching continues, or Benedryl doesn't help, or he breaks out in skin lesions, you should have a veterinarian take a look at him. Hope this helps. Rebecca
