we have a deer chahuahua, she was jumping over a baby gate

we have a deer chahuahua, she was jumping over a baby gate and rippied her front nail completly off. is there any special care needed? will it grow back? thank you

The only special care is to protect the area so that it doesn't start bleeding again and it doesn't hurt too much. Cold (cold wet washcloth) helps decrease the pain. Keeping her quiet (in a crate if she is used to one) would help prevent her from hurting it again.


She may limp for a couple days until the nail bed cornifies and gets hard.


Most ripped off nails grow back normally.
