Help with funding for Cataract surgery

Customer Question

We have two small dogs and a cat, aged eleven seven and thirteen. Sadly the seven year old dog a little Yorkshire terrier has recently been diagnosed, by a PDSA Vet, as suffering with cataracts. Regrettably the PDSA are not able to treat this condition or assist with funding.
Our finical situation is that three years ago, at the age of 60, I retired from work. Although my husband had not quite reached retirement age, he had to retire because of ill health. Our sole income is a reduced state pension and pension credit. The cost of the eye surgery is approximately One thousand six hundred pounds, and we do not have sufficient savings to fund this, I have tried all the high profile animal charities but none are able to help because it is specialised treatment, are you aware of anywhere we can apply to get help for Harvey?
We would be so grateful if you could point us in the right direction to access some help for him.
Thank you for taking the time to read this e-mail.

Hi Moira,
I am not sure if any of these organizations operate outside the US, and it sounds like you are writing from the UK. But I am listing them here for you to see if they can be of service to you. I hope that this helps!!

Just a note to say thank you for trying to help us find the funding for Harvey’s surgery; I hope that you will understand that we are grateful, however unfortunately none of the sites you mentioned operate in the UK. We have tried all the UK high profile Charities and because this is a specialised operation and not a life and death situation none are able to help. I hope you will not be offended that as we are struggling to raise the funds, at this time we are not able to make the donation. If we manage to raise the funds from the help you offered we will come back to you with a donation.
Thank you on behalf of Harvey and Ourselves

I certainly understand...I figured it was worth a shot if any of those sites would be of use. Unfortunately, they are the only ones that I know.
I am going to "opt out" of this question and reopen it to other experts. Perhaps one of them might live in the UK and know of a charity that could be of use to you.

Gool luck with Harvey,
Dr. K
