There is a documented dose of alpha lipoic acid in dogs of 25-100 mg per day. It is sometimes used as an antioxidant in dogs with liver damage. It is usually used in combination with other anti-oxidants however.

Just a word of warning...alpha lipoic acid is toxic to cats.

If you want to use this drug in your dog I would highly suggest that you run it by your vet first.

Hope this helps!
