Does kennel cough get worse before it gets better

Customer Question

We have a 10 week old bulldog with kennel cough that is being treated with medication... but he seems to be a little worse.

He might need a change in antibiotics being used if the first type isn't helping.
It sounds like your dog might have kennel cough
or could have the more serious virus causing canine influenza
You can ask your vet if you can use some Robitussin DM to help the dog breathe better and control any cough or sneezing or runny nose. Read here about cautions and dose info
If your vet already gave you a cough med no need for this one.
However if your pup has breathing issues you may need nebulizer treatment or a change in antibiotics so I would call your vet and ask them about the changes you are seeing and how soon you would expect improvement using the meds as given.
Hope this helps you!
