I would want to take the temp with a rectal thermometer and see if it's actually elevated. Normal temp for a dog is 101-102.5 If it's elevated, you will need to try to bring it down.

If this is muscle pain, some aspirin might be appropriate. You can get dosage information here:

For the dry, crusty nose, the best thing you can use is some "bag balm" and you can get it at most pet stores/walmart.

There may be more going on here than you realize so be sure and keep a close eye on it.

I don't have a rectal thermometer. Is it SAFE for a dog to take baby aspirin or should I give something else?

Baby aspirin is safe and is commonly used in dogs. I just hesitate to use it after surgery because it can thin the blood and make bleeding worse if there is a bleeding problem.
