Customer Question

I think my dog is sick. She won't get up when called, she keeps her head low to the ground. Won't get up at all. She keeps her ear especially low to the ground and yelps when it is touched. Her body temperature is very cold. What could be wrong with her?

What is her age and breed? Any known health issues?

Reply to Denise's Post: She's about 6 years old and a weimeraner. She's had quite a series of ear infections over the year. Possibly 8 or so in her life. It seems she gets them every 3-4 months mostly because she has very long and floppy ears.

It definitely sounds as if she's in pain. If you have any pain medication from any of her previous ear infections left you might consider giving her a dose for tonight. I would definitely make an appointment as soon as possible so she can be aggressively treated, especially since this is a recurring problem. If you have no pain meds from your vet you can give her a baby aspirin or half a buffered aspirin for tonight. Coax her to eat if she hasn't as the aspirin can cause stomach upset & it sounds as if she's uncomfortable enough without adding to it.
