Cephalosporins including Cephalexin are considered broadspectrum, safe, commonly used antibiotics which should be safe to use during pregnancy in a dog. The antibiotic medications most likely to be prescribed for use in the pregnant bitch - due to their known safety in pregnancy - are Amoxicillin and Cephalexin (Keflex).
