She is getting Omega oil and a car multi daily with her balanced raw Bison. She has been on the Bison over 6 weeks and has no other symptoms. She's not as hyper as usual, but still eating, drinking, peeing and pooping normally.

Is the mucous being produced clear or opaque? Does it have any color to it? Any blood present?

Is she on any medication at this time?

It's looking clear, thete isn't a lot, it's mostly in the morning and after she eats. No blood. I wiped her nose with gentle coconut pet wipes, and put a touch of coconut oil on it so it doesn't look as chunky and dry now.

No medication

It sounds like she may be experiencing some seasonal allergies. This is not uncommon with changing weather, heaters being used indoors, the fireplace being used, etc. She can receive 2-4mg of OTC human antihistamine Chlorpheniramine every 12-24 hours orally. This should help with the mucous and sneezing. If this persists or you begin to see thicker discharge that is yellow or green, debris in the eyes, she loses her appetite, etc. this is more likely to be a URI and she needs to see your vet for a course of antibiotics.

Thank you!Do you think 1/4 teaspoon of Apple cider vinegar would help too?
Cat Vet: PitRottMommy, Veterinary Nurse replied 7 months ago

I don't think it would hurt, but be sure to mix it into her food.

The vet said that the information and my following it will be what made the difference. Thanks again for being so very helpful.

My oldest male cat had a seizure this evening. This site was the first place I could think of to go after the seizure had passed. Dr. Lucy was fantastic and she was spot on!

DebbieUSA

I must tell you I found this site by accident and was amazed when I asked a question of the Veteranians online. I wish I could have found it sooner it could have made such a difference in the outcome of my pet's surgery. However, I am passing along the information to my sister-in-law (a cat-rescue person who is also a nurse), and perhaps it will help someone else who may experience the same problem. The doctor who answered my question was amazing, and while it didn't come it time to change the outcome of my situation, it is reassuring to know the caliber of Vets/Doctors that you have at JustAnswer. Thank you for being there.
