How to keep kittens away from computers and cables?

1. The cables are easy. Get a hold of a product called " Bitter Apple Spray ". As the name suggests, this is very bitter to cats and once they lick an object coated with it the chances are they will leave it alone in the future. Just spray it on all the cables you want to protect. It is colourless and odourless to humans by the way and should not degrade the cables.

2. As far as the laptop goes I would not spray it on the actual screen, but if you apply it to the back it could keep the kittens away.

3. You can pick up Bitter Apple Spray at better pets stores, over the counter at your vet or online via the likes of Amazon.

Resolved Question:

How can I get my 15 week old kittens away from my computers? They chewed off a couple of very expensive cables, and just bit my Mac book screen and cracked it. They are costing me a lot of money and interrupting my work. It is getting very inconvenient. Is there a permanent solution to end this?

Kittens are so curious. However, I know this can be a nuisance. I have worked out an answer for you below.

But in any case I should be available online for you for the next four or five hours today so please do not hesitate to get straight back to me if you would like to talk things over with me further.

I have this spray, is it the same thing?

https://www.petsmart.com/cat/cleaning-and-repellents/repellants/whisker-city-no-chew-cat-deterrent-spray-13581.html

Actually to be fair, although it is not the same as the one I usually suggest, it probably works in the same sort of way. But for all the cost, I would give a straight forward bitter apple formulation one a try and see if it works better.

The vet said that the information and my following it will be what made the difference. Thanks again for being so very helpful.

My oldest male cat had a seizure this evening. This site was the first place I could think of to go after the seizure had passed. Dr. Lucy was fantastic and she was spot on!

DebbieUSA

I must tell you I found this site by accident and was amazed when I asked a question of the Veteranians online. I wish I could have found it sooner it could have made such a difference in the outcome of my pet's surgery. However, I am passing along the information to my sister-in-law (a cat-rescue person who is also a nurse), and perhaps it will help someone else who may experience the same problem. The doctor who answered my question was amazing, and while it didn't come it time to change the outcome of my situation, it is reassuring to know the caliber of Vets/Doctors that you have at JustAnswer. Thank you for being there.

I took my cat to my local vet and they diagnosed him as having injested a toxin, but I'm not so sure. He cannot walk or stand. Before coming to this site I described it as paralysis, but now I know it's weakness. He's not eating and we're having to give him water with a syringe. At some points of the day he will stand and walk around, clumsily and as if drunk, for a very short time, but he never stands to full highth, only crouched. During these "good" times he may also try to sit up, but he does not have the balance. In the mornings he is worse. Or after laying still for too long he gets worse. … read more
