Customer Question
My cat wolfs down...

My cat wolfs down his food unlike our other two cats.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. What is the cat's name and age?

Fergus, under 2

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Fergus?

May have been taken away from his mum too soon. Taken from a farm. Still suckles every so often on fabric.

Our cat seems well, grooms itself, plays, wants fuss. Just wondered if there could be any underlying medical issues due to his weight.

Can you give me more information? It seems as though part of your transmission may have been cut off. Is he obese? thin?

Ask Your Own Cat Question
Customer reply replied 10 months ago
He is overweight, nearly 17 pounds.
Cat Vet: PitRottMommy, Veterinary Nurse replied 10 months ago

With him being overweight and eating his food quickly, it may be that his past history makes him feel the need to eat as quickly as possible and as much as possible in one sitting. Has any bloodwork been run by your vet? Have you tried putting him on a diet yet?

Customer reply replied 10 months ago
That's what we thought and we have wormed him as well. I think it will be better just to get him checked out with a local vet. Thanks anyway.
Cat Vet: PitRottMommy, Veterinary Nurse replied 10 months ago

Certainly. If you need more help, just let me know.

I will use your service again. I was very pleased with the response and the fact that you have a low cost option so that those of us on fixed income can have questions answered. I will also recommend you to others.

You helped us to come to what we believe is a better next step in Jack's treatment, and hopefully have saved us $800!! Thanks again!

The vet said that the information and my following it will be what made the difference. Thanks again for being so very helpful.

TracyGrayson, LA

My oldest male cat had a seizure this evening. This site was the first place I could think of to go after the seizure had passed. Dr. Lucy was fantastic and she was spot on!

DebbieUSA

I must tell you I found this site by accident and was amazed when I asked a question of the Veteranians online. I wish I could have found it sooner it could have made such a difference in the outcome of my pet's surgery. However, I am passing along the information to my sister-in-law (a cat-rescue person who is also a nurse), and perhaps it will help someone else who may experience the same problem. The doctor who answered my question was amazing, and while it didn't come it time to change the outcome of my situation, it is reassuring to know the caliber of Vets/Doctors that you have at JustAnswer. Thank you for being there.
