Customer Question

She's acting really strange. She's usually really clingy and follows me everywhere but for the past two days she's been withdrawen, hasn't meowed much (she meows constantly), her pupils are huge, she's thrown up once, and she's very lethargic. I've checked her vitals and they were normal but I don't know what to do
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. This sounds like it might be serious. I'll let the Veterinarian know what's going on ASAP. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the cat?
Customer: She has trouble gaining weight. I feed her twice a day and she only weighs 4.4 pounds and she's 9 months old

Hello, JACustomer. I have been a Veterinary Nurse for over 15 years and would be happy to help you today. I'm reviewing your question right now.

1) What diagnostics have been performed to determine the cause of her being so small?
2) Have you applied any medication or has she ingested any medication recently?
3) Is she indoors only?
4) How are her stools?
5) What was the temp, heart rate and respiration rate?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
1. I took her to the vet about a month ago and they couldn't really tell me what was wrong with her weight
2. I gave her eye drops a few weeks ago because she had an eye infection
3. Yes But I walk around with her outside in my yard sometimes for like 10 minutes
4. She pees and poops often but her stool can be hard sometimes
5. Couldn't get her temp :( But her heart rate was 160 bpm and her respiration was 22 breaths per minute

She's stumbling walking around now whenever she gets up

Did they perform any diagnostics at that time? Fecal exam? Bloodwork? X-rays?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
No fecal exam, no x-rays and no blood work. I was really unhappy with the visit actually. They only told me that she probably has FIP even though she wasn't exhibiting any other symptoms at the time for FIP. She's just really small and I've never seen her throw up unti now
Expert:  PitRottMommy replied 4 months ago.

I cannot say they're wrong, though diagnostics truly need to be performed. Particularly now that she's having even more symptoms. We can certainly associate some of these symptoms with FIP, for sure, but other concerns could range from cardiac issues, toxin ingestion, toxoplasmosis, intestinal parasites, seizures, etc. Due to the severity of her condition, I would highly recommend going to the ER tonight. However, if you cannot visit an ER overnight, I would find a different vet to examine her, run some diagnostics and treat her come morning.
