My cat has been acting lethargic and periodically vomiting

Customer Question

My cat has been acting lethargic and periodically vomiting this evening. She ate both breakfast and lunch but very little at dinner. She's never been a big eater. She's 3 years old and around 7 lbs. Is there anything I can give her to help with nausea? I will call my vet if she is still having problems tomorrow.

Hi there and thank you for your question. My name is ***** ***** I am a licensed, internship-trained veterinarian with 10 years experience in general medicine and emergency and critical care medicine and I would be happy to assist you. Please be patient as there may be slight delays in responses as I research your pet's issue.

I would give her Prilosec 20mg tablets, 1/2 tablet, or else Pepcid A/C 10mg tablets, 1/4 tablet. Then withhold food and water for about 6-8 hours and don't let her eat anything. If she is still lethargic or vomiting by morning, or if her symptoms progress tonight, see a vet.

I hope that I have answered your question thoroughly. If you still have questions, please reply. If you feel that I have provided anything less than excellent service, please reply to me first before rating my service and let me know how I can better assist you. Thank you for your question; it has been a pleasure being able to provide assistance. Bonuses are not necessary, but are appreciated, as they go directly to me rather than to the website. Best of luck.

Hi Nancy,
I'm just following up on our conversation about Belle. How is everything going?

Thank you. She didn't vomit on Friday. I took her to the vet on Friday. We are waiting for test results. Her thyroid function is borderline and her kidney values are slightly elevated. The pepcid seemed to help a lot - she's eating better.
