Customer Question

I'm more than positive my baby (my cat) is pregnant. I have no idea how long it's been, so I have no idea when to expect delivery. I've been reading up on labor and delivery and how I can help her. Yesterday I saw a dark dried string coming out of her vagina. I've been watching for the locking signs and the meowing but she hasn't showed any signs as far as I know. My question is should I be concerned about the dried up discharge I saw yesterday?

Hi JACustomer. Can you give me some additional information?

Do you recall when she was in heat? This behavior is typically undeniably annoying. Cats are very good at drawing attention to themselves. You may have seen her rolling around on the floor, spraying urine on vertical surfaces, tucking herself into a crouching position, attention-seeking or the characteristic calling. Here's a useful video of some of the signs:

Do you have a picture of her currently or a video? Something clear that shows her body condition?
