Good afternoon, Ann. Thanks for your question. I am happy to assist you today with Cissy.

Can you give me some additional information?

1) How long has she been using the bathroom outside of the box?
2) Is she currently on any medications?
3) When was the last time that blood work and a urinalysis performed?
4) Is she declawed? If so, front paws or all paws?
5) Are you seeing just urine on the floor or is she also defecating on the floor? Both?
6) What type of flooring is the using? Carpet? Tile? Linoleum?
7) Does she frequent the same areas or go in another area all the time?
8) Any new pets in the house?
9) Is Cissy spayed? If so, recently or when she was younger?
10) Are there other pets in the household? Any of them new?

To answer your question briefly, there are treatment protocols for cats that have behavioral issues and I'll be happy to go through those with you today. Unfortunately, there aren't a very good number of feline behaviorists across the USA so it will be difficult to find one. On the other hand, in knowing what it is that you're experiencing I should be able to give you some things to try and at least one of them should help Cissy. Her medical concern is actually pretty common with cats.
