Customer Question

My cat has been peeing blood since Tuesday. Our vet didn't find any stones. Kidneys are fine and pH is high. The cat has being going to a toilet a lot (less often now) and the amount of blood has reduced significantly (but the urine is still tinted). My cat is still able to pee (and quite a large amounts at one). There is no crying or changes in moods. He is on Metacam

Hi Justina and Happy holidays.

I am sorry Otis has this trouble.

He could have a UTI or interstitial cystitis:

Many times this is caused by a dry food diet. Please read articles written by a feline vet:

You can give him 4 drops of cranberry juice (by dropper) every day for ten days. It will lower the PH of his urine. The blood should also stop as the irritation heals.

If he had an antibiotic injection it was probably convenia. Clavamox or clindamycin twice a day for ten days may be a better choice if the blood continues.

Please let me know how Otis is doing.

Please be so kind as to rate my answer with positive feedback; that is the only way I receive credit for my assistance. Thank you very much!
