Terri, My hair 12 year old male cat has scales down s lower

Customer Question

Hi Terri,
My long hair 12 year old male cat has scales down his lower back and lower part of his tail. I changed his diet to Sheba wet food and Science diet dry food. I also comb him regularly. He gets flea stuff on the back of his neck every few weeks as he is an indoor cat, goes out occasionally. The scales are white and reddish scabby looking

Hello,

Thanks so much for your reply.

Malkey has an allergic condition called eosinophic granuloma or miliary dermaitis:

It can be caused by one flea bit or a food allergy. Most are allergic to poultry so use a different protein source.

Don't bother with baths pine tar and dips. Just apply raw honey to the sores. It is a remarkable healing agent:

In addition, give him one quarter of a 4 mg chlortrimeton every 24 hours. It is a tiny pill so if you add it to wet food or tuna he will not detect it.

Please let me know how he is doing. I will always be here for you.
