Customer Question

My 17 yr old diabetic cat has not eaten enough for two days to enable us to give him his insulin. He generally has 1.5 twice daily. He seems fine but I'm concerned how not having his insulin might affect him. We were advised that cats can go without insulin for a few days without serious consequences. P lease advise

I am sorry Curran did not eat enough too get his insulin. However, two days is too long to go without it.

Try syringe feeding him human baby food chicken or turkey with no onion or garlic. Warm the food to bring out the aroma. You can also try tuna or canned cat food a bit warm.

As soon as he has enough food, give him his regular dose of insulin.

Please write back and let me know how he is doing.
