Customer Question

good morning - we took our cat to the vet yesterday because he could not pee.
the vet was able to get him to pee and took a sample - told us he had an infection and gave him a shot of antibiotics that works over 10 day period. this morning the poor thing is trying so hard to pee and just a drop or two comes out. I was reading that a small dose of valium might help him relax so he could pee while the antibiotic helped with the infection. should i consider this i take 5mg for muscle pain

Thanks so much for requesting me. I am so sorry your boy is not feeling well.
I do not like convenia for urinary tract infections. It is much better to use clavamox or clindamycin.
I would not give him valium or any other medication at this time.
If he is blocked or getting blocked, that is a life threatening EMERGENCY!
I would take him right back to his vet ASAP as soon as they open.
He needs the right antibiotic and pain medication.
The only thing you can try at home is to apply a warm damp compress to his tummy and private parts. That may help him pee.
PLEASE write back and let me know what happens. I will be here for you all day. I hope he feels better very soon.
