petdrz :

Hello and welcome to Just Answer. I am a licensed veterinarian and would be happy to answer your questions.

petdrz :

What kind of surgery are you referring to?

Customer:

he had stomach surgery

Customer:

how long before it's ok to not worry about the stitches?

petdrz :

Was the intestine itself cut into, or just the abdominal wall to look into the belly?

Customer:

the stomach was I think

Customer:

he ate some rubber

petdrz :

Ok, usually the incision into the stomach itself will start to seal itself off within 4-5 days. The abdominal incision (the one you can see) will be more or less healed in 7-14 days.

petdrz :

I hope that helps.

petdrz :

Is he licking at the stitches?

Customer:

oh ok

Customer:

a little not too bad

petdrz :

How long ago was the surgery?

Customer:

7 days

Customer:

do they just lick or will they bite at it

petdrz :

either. Does he have stitches that have to be removed?

Customer:

i have to go back for a checkup

Customer:

ok thanks!

petdrz :

You are welcome.
