Is chlor trimeton available in a liquid flavored form My

Resolved Question:

Is chlor trimeton available in a liquid flavored form? My cat doesn't let me pill her, and I have tried crushing the chlor trimeton and putting it in tuna, but she wouldn't eat it. I guess I could get it compounded and flavored if nothing else is available, but I was hoping for something less expensive.

Hi there,

What is wrong with her that she needs an allergen?

Thanks,

Terri

She has an upper respiratory infection .. my vet has given her something (?) by injection which didn't help, and now is suggesting chlor-trimeton

Dear friend,

I am sorry your baby is not feeling well.

She should only be getting a quarter of a chlor-trimeton and that is teeny tiny.

Crush it up and add it to tuna or salmon water. They suck it up with a dropper and administer by putting it in the side of her mouth between the teeth and squeeze.

You can also give one mg per lb of benedry instead but the product often makes cats drool, hence chlor-trimeton is usually recommended.

If she is congested make a steam room by running a hot shower and take him in for ten minute intervals.

I hope she feels better very soon.

Best wishes for her,

Terri

My cat doesn't let me hang on to her to give her something by mouth .. unless I confine her and that makes her extremely agitated which doesn't help her breathing. I was hoping for something I could add to her food that wouldn't taste bad so she would eat it. I guess that doesn't exist unless I go for compounding?

Expert:  Terri replied 7 years ago.

You should be able to compound it yourself by crushing with a pepper pounder and add it to tuna or salmon water.

If you use enough she will not detect it.

When the pharmacy compounds a med they add it to a tasty flavor she has to ingest.

Some drugs can be compounded to be rubbed on the inside of her ear BUT that can be expensive.
