Can cats be afraid of the dark

Ask Your Own Cat Question
I guess it's like's not so much the dark but the unknown or a previous bad experience. So even though cats are by nature nocturnal creatures some are very uneasy about venturing out at night or even entering darkened rooms. If a cat has had a previous bad experience in a darkened environment...perhaps a dog chase or cat attack that will obviously reinforce those fears.
Certainly I have known many cats over the years that have been reluctant to venture outside at night. I generally consider that to be a bonus...keeps them out of trouble.
I hope I have been of assistance.
Kindest regards, Peter
