I suspect my cat has a broken rib. It is Sunday and I cannot

Resolved Question:

I suspect my cat has a broken rib. It is Sunday and I cannot get a hold of my vet.   We just noticed swelling on the outside of the rib cage yesterday, and the cat objects to being touched in the area.   We introduced a new cat into the household and have been trying to introduce them to each other gradually. My daughter thinks the cat got hit by a door several days ago as a consequence of trying to keep them separated, but that is the only trauma we are aware of.   The cat is eating and drinking. What do I do until tomorrow?

Dear friend,

I am so sorry your cat was hurt. A cats appetite is the best barometer of his health so as long as he is eating, he is not in a lot of pain. His rib may just be bruised.

If it was broken he would have difficuty breathing so as long as you do not see that just keep him as quiet as possible to he is seen tomorrow.

If he will let you apply a warm compress otherwise just let him be.

I hope he will be fine so please let me know how he is doing.

Sincerest best wishes,
