What is the function of the urethra in male and female cats? Also which organ has a similar structure to the Adrenal glands with the names the hormones produced in the adrenal gland.
The urethra is the outflow from the bladder to allow evacuation of the waste fluids during urination. The urethra in both sexes passes urine to the outside, and also has a reproductive function in the male, as a passage for semen and fluids from the prostate gland. This site has some nice animations showing how the adrenal glands control cortisol production: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/what_is_cushing_s_disease_.html
The adrenal glands produce cortico-steroid hormones. From this site:http://www.umm.edu/endocrin/adrengl.htm
The hormones produced by the adrenal cortex include: Cortico-steroid hormones, Hydrocortisone hormone & Aldosterone hormone. The adrenal medulla secretes the following hormones: Epinephrine (also called adrenaline), Norepinephrine (also called noradrenaline)See the above site for the function of the hormones. You can see here the structure of the kidney with a cortex and medulla: http://www.ivy-rose.co.uk/Topics/Urinary/Kidney_cIvyRose.jpg
