Customer Question

My cat has some red bumps around her butt, and the fur is missing in one place. I just noticed it all of a sudden. What could this be??

If the red bumps are on the skin of her anus, she may have an anal gland problem, which must be evaluated and treated by the vet. The glands may be full, and need to be emptied, or they could be infected or the fluid, impacted.

If something is bothering her back there, she may be pulling the fur out herself, with excessive licking, biting, chewing, if she's uncomfortable.

If your cat is not on any monthly flea preventative, like Advantage or Frontline, she may have fleas or other external parasites, like mites.

Once she's assessed by the vet, you'll receive a definite diagnosis and then she'll be treated to resolve the problem.

I hope your kitty will be fine!
