Are cucumbers safe for cats to eat

Customer Question

We have noticed some ants around the cats food bowl. I read that ants do not like cucumber peelings. I was wondering if I were to put the cucumber peels in the vicinity of the cat bowls, would that be safe for the cats?

I doubt that the cats would eat them, but cuccmber has a lot of oxalic acid which can cause excessive urination.
