my cat just died with her eyes open what does this mean

I missed her passing by 20 mins or so, but as her eyes were open, did she suffer? I would hate her to have sufered

First, let me say I am very very sorry for the loss of your pet. Most of the time, when a pet passes away, unless it is euthanized, the eyes remain open. This does not mean they suffered more because the eyes did not close. Again, I am so sorry that you lost your pet so suddenly.
