My 22 year old female umbrella cockatoo has had a cloaca…

Customer Question
My 22 year old...

My 22 year old female umbrella cockatoo has had a cloaca prolapse Sat. night. Called her vet, rushed her in , and he did an emergency procedure. This is the second time this has happened since August of last year. She's on Baytril now, but she's only eating baby food I give her. She's also sleeping on the bottom of her cage. Her vet won't see her again, because I owe him about $1500!! I don't have the money till the end if this month to pay another vet. I was turned down for Care credit. I don't know what to do!! HELP!!

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Expert will know how to help Vet. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Vet?

She's had a prolapse, it's not just lethargy

Thank you for that. And thank you for doing all the right things for your 'too. She obviously is important to you and that's how it should be.

Help me understand a little more about what's happened with the vet. He's carrying a balance, but won't do further care? Have you promised to make payments to him and something happened?

Does she (what's your bird's name?) need more care right now? What exactly has been done thus far to correct the prolapse?

I am going to try my best to help you and I'm sorry to ask some personal questions here, but I do need to know the whole story in order to give you a response that might actually work out.

What Customers are Saying:

Thank you so much!!! I love this service. It has given me peace of mind and extremely valuable information at an affordable price 24/7 to care for my beloved pets. THANK YOU

LindaCenterreach, NY

I found my experience with you to be very positive. Not only did the vet answer my question thoroughly, he left me with a better knowledge to follow up with my vet.

I must tell you I found this site by accident and was amazed when I asked a question of the Veteranians online. I wish I could have found it sooner it could have made such a difference in the outcome of my pet's surgery. However, I am passing along the information to my sister-in-law (a cat-rescue person who is also a nurse), and perhaps it will help someone else who may experience the same problem. The doctor who answered my question was amazing, and while it didn't come it time to change the outcome of my situation, it is reassuring to know the caliber of Vets/Doctors that you have at JustAnswer. Thank you for being there.
