I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. I suspect that this is a shell-less malformed egg seen more often at the onset of egg-laying in hens. I'm going to send the photo to a specialist veterinary pathologist who has a special interest in birds. She usually gets back to me within 24 hours. Once I hear from her, I'll return to our conversation with an update for you. Now that Tiny has passed this, she should be feeling better. May I have an update on her, please?

The pathologist has asked for your estimate of the length of this, please.

Customer reply replied 7 months ago
The length is about 3-4"
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
She is feeling much better and is resting. Thank you.
Bird Specialist: Dr. Michael Salkin, Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

Thank you. The pathologist thought it looked just like a sea creature called "the fat innkeeper". She said that it can only be from her reproductive tract and so our hope is that her next eggs will be more normal. Thank you for the good update. I appreciate it.

What Customers are Saying:

Thank you so much!!! I love this service. It has given me peace of mind and extremely valuable information at an affordable price 24/7 to care for my beloved pets. THANK YOU

LindaCenterreach, NY

I found my experience with you to be very positive. Not only did the vet answer my question thoroughly, he left me with a better knowledge to follow up with my vet.

MarilouEast Taunton, MA

I must tell you I found this site by accident and was amazed when I asked a question of the Veteranians online. I wish I could have found it sooner it could have made such a difference in the outcome of my pet's surgery. However, I am passing along the information to my sister-in-law (a cat-rescue person who is also a nurse), and perhaps it will help someone else who may experience the same problem. The doctor who answered my question was amazing, and while it didn't come it time to change the outcome of my situation, it is reassuring to know the caliber of Vets/Doctors that you have at JustAnswer. Thank you for being there.

Alice H.Jacksonville, Fl.
