You're speaking to Dr. Michael Salkin. Welcome to JustAnswer. I'm currently typing up my reply. Please be patient. This may take a few minutes.
Becky, you can lavage superficial wounds twice daily with over the counter chlorhexidine solution (Hibiclens in your local drug store) or Vetericyn solution which can be found where pet supplies are sold. If you can see full thickness skin bite wound punctures, however, Nya will need a systemic antibiotic in order to prevent those wounds from abscessing and those antibiotics need to be onboard within 48 hours of the bites. As of this writing the only over the counter antibiotic available for birds is tylosin in the form of Tylan-50 which would need to be injected into Nya's breast muscle once daily at a dose of 5-15 mg per pound of body weight for 5-7 days. This antibiotic isn't the best choice for your purposes, however, as it's not a broad spectrum antibiotic. A more appropriate antibiotic can be prescribed by an avian vet (www.aav.org) which can be given directly into Nya's mouth. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
