I have a 23 year old female African grey.about 7 or 8 years

I have a 23 year old female African grey.about 7 or 8 years ago she starter to pluck her fethers
mainly from her chest and thigh area.there were constructuion i think the noise what precipitated
the plucking she does it early in the morning before i get up.each morning there are fethers in the
cage.is there anything i can do to stop the plucking?i've tried different vitamins

Hi. this is Dr. Hill. Feather destructive behavior is usually multifaceted. African Grey's and cockatoo's are the two most common birds we see this in. There are a number of things that you can try to stop this behavior. First I recommend that you set up space(s) for captive foraging.
