Customer Question

My chicken is a barred rock chicken and starting almost a week ago I noticed her stumbling and acting drunk. I isolated her in the garage with food and water. I high box so she couldn't get out. Gave her extra calcium and Epsom salt bath. Not any better. Stopped feeding for 2 days just water and organic apple cider vinegar. Seemed better but still drunk. I don't want to starve her. What should I do. No avian vets in my area. I have 17 other chickens. No symptoms.

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. We don't have many avian vets on this site. Can you tell me, please, if "stumbling and acting drunk" describes paresis (weakness) or paralysis of her legs or wings? At 7 months of age, I need to consider Marek's disease (herpesvirus) in a paretic or paralyzed chicken. Please see here and let me know:!mareks-disease/c1qzk
