Rock Doves are considered to have been the first bird domesticated by man. They were raised for meat as far back as the time of the ancient Egyptians.

Chickens were first domesticated around 2500BC.

There is archaeological evidence of domesticated geese in Egypt 5,000 years ago. But archaeologists have also uncovered material that puts the domestication of pigeons in Egypt around 6000 years BC.

So it is likely that the pigeon is the answer.
