What is a supplemental Pleading? Is a reply to an objection

Customer Question

What is a supplemental Pleading? Is a reply to an objection a supplemental pleading? How many days after the objection is filed can a party file for a motion for leave to file a reply to the objection?

Good afternoon. I do not know what court you are in, but generally, no, a reply is not a supplemental pleading. There is no waiting period to file a reply and you do not need leave. When you file a motion, the opposing counsel files a Response or Objection, and you generally have the option of filing a Reply. Check your local rules of civil procedure, but generally you have about a week to 12 days (5 calendar plus 5 business days). A supplemental pleading goes beyond the Motion, Objection, Reply routine.
