How does the workers comp settlement and my wifes retirement

This answer was rated:

How does the workers comp settlement and my wife's retirement work. The state had sent a letter stating that she could put in for her retirement.? How does one affect the other?

Thank you for your question. I had to do some digging on this one, as there seems to be a conflict between the states as to how they treat this question. In many states, if you receive a pension from your employer for retirement, then they can reduce the benefits due to you. However, it appears that in North Carolina, this isn't the case. In North Carolina, your workers compensation benefits are not due to retirement pensions earned by the injured worker.
