My 7 week old grand daughter had been nursing comfortably…

Customer Question
My 7 week old...

My 7 week old grand daughter had been nursing comfortably until two weeks ago. Now she cries and frets after she starts her feeding. Saw ped. Two days ago who put baby on Zantac. Yesterday was a little better and took in 10 ounces total but today sad and crying a lot. What do you recommend?

Doctor's Assistant: How have your child's checkups gone? Is your child progressing steadily in height and weight?

Check ups ok ( up until two weeks ago when nursing resistance started occurring off and on).when weighed two days ago weight loss.

Doctor's Assistant: Anything else in the child's medical history you think the doctor should know?

Arya has been very mild in temperament thus far ( except the feeding and digestion time lack of comfort). Her Mom does not produce enough milk and supplements with feeding tube of donated breastmilk ( she did this successfully for her first baby). The ped. Knows of all this as does lactation consultant. Nipple grasp not as vogorous as her older brother but she was gaining weight...she is partial to nursing method than various bottl s that have been tried. As her grandmother I just worry that diagnosing is going to be difficult

Hi, sorry about feeding issue. Crying may either be due to hunger and gas colic. Please burp her well during and after feeds. If not sucking at nipple, spoon may be used.

For crying, try Dotavarine drops. If bowel movement there, feeding may be adequate. Please watch weight gain.

Good luck.

Thank you to the Physician who answered my question today. The answer was far more informative than what I got from the Physicians I saw in person for my problem.

You have been more help than you know. I seriously don't know what my sisters situation would be today if you had not gone above and beyond just answering my questions.
