Hello..every since he was about 2 or 3 yrs old...he has issues with swallowing certain foods...It seem to have something to do with the texture of things...He can eat a bowl of cereal but once it turns soggy he will start to gag..or actually throw up..So he runs to the trash can to spit things out..He has a limited list of foods he can tolerate to swallow..Peanut butter sandwiches, Hot dogs, french fries, Chicken nuggets, pizza and he loves milk. Sometimes we can get him to eat a waffle or pancake and maybe a piece of sausage...He says he is sad that he cant swallow certain foods..That he sometimes wants to try new things but is scared of gagging.

Does he have pain or any other symptom?

Did you discuss it with his doctor?

Customer: replied 10 months ago. pain...and the gagging or the vomiting seem to be the only symptom...and fear. He had no issues eating when he was a baby and toddler..I'm not sure what changed...We have even offered to even give him $100 to try different things...and this kid loves money...So I really dont know what to think..His doc has always said it was just a faze and he would grow out of it...

Thank you for the input.
There is unlikely a physical or organic cause.
In those cases, there would be difficulty in swallowing all solid foods, not any particular one or type.
Over such long time, there will be other symptoms like pain, weight loss etc.
Psychological issues can be there.
He may not like certain food or does not want to take it.
As his doctor has told it can be a phase only.
If it occurs quite frequently, you can talk with his doctor again.
He can refer to an ENT specialist for examining throat, do scope.
I hope this information will be helpful.
