The onset of a fever could be a sign that something else has developed with her illness, aside from her runny nose. It is common for this congestion to lead to an ear infection, particularly in her age group, and the fever could be the first sign of it. It is also possible that she is developing a lower respiratory or throat infection, secondary to the viral symptoms she has had over the past 4 days.

I would monitor her symptoms over the next day or two. If the fever persists and she develops a decreased appetite or seems to be in pain, she should see her pediatrician. In the meantime, I would recommend ibuprofen to reduce her fever and provide comfort as needed.
