My child suffers from bed wetting. Recently we bought an alarm that goes off when he starts urinating.
I realized that it's just impossible to wake him, even when the alarm indicates that he is urinating. I have tried all kinds of methods to wake him, (shaking, yelling, calling him by his name) but nothing works. This leads me to believe that his problem is his deep sleep, rather than just bed wetting.
How can I get him to sleep better. (Natural preferred)

Hi, Please restrict liquid (water, milk) intake from 5-6 hours before bedtime, avoid tea/coffee/chocolates and try medicine like imipramine before bedtime.

Ultimate cure will come with maturity as he grows up. Bladder muscle can be exercised also by making him interrupt peeing for few seconds several times each time he passes during waking. Better sphincter tone will help during night holding during sleep.

Good luck to him.

I know the general answer.I also know, and am convinced that my son's bedwetting issue, is caused by his ultra deep sleep. Is there anything outthere, that can cure deep sleep?
Pediatrician: Dr. Yogindra Vasavada, Pediatrician replied 1 year ago

Imipramine like drugs help lighten sleep. Tea/coffee not good for kids.

Another hormone Desmopressin helps lessen urine flow during night and available as nasal spray.

Is Imipramine not an antidepressants?
Pediatrician: Dr. Yogindra Vasavada, Pediatrician replied 1 year ago

It is but helps in bed-wetting by lightened sleep and increased bladder sphincter tone. One dose at night only, unlike in depression.

Any side effects?
Pediatrician: Dr. Yogindra Vasavada, Pediatrician replied 1 year ago

Dry mouth, light headache etc.

Have to give few weeks and then stop couple of weeks. Amitriptyline also works.
