What is the life expectancy for an infant with a liver

Customer Question

What is the life expectancy for an infant with a liver transplant after a failed Kasai procedure?

Hi, It is fairly good, provided the body accepts the graft without rejection.

Young infants experience graft and patient survival similar to that in older liver transplant recipients. Post-transplant complication rates, including the re-operation rate, are higher in this younger group, and the duration of hospitalization and intensive support are significantly longer.

Good luck to baby.
