My 3 year old got a strep diagnosis on Sunday and ran fever

Customer Question

My 3 year old got a strep diagnosis on Sunday and ran fever this afternoon and tonight. She is on azithromicin started Sunday afternoon. Should I change antibiotics or is this normal? Is she still contagious?

Welcome to Justanswer website.

Myself Dr Josh and I’m happy to help with your question today.

I am sorry to hear about your daughter's health problems.

Well, according to studies, she would not be contagious after 24 hours, of starting antibiotics.

Once 24 hours, have passed after antibiotics, she would not be contagious.

You should continue with antibiotic Azithromycin, as prescribed by doctor. It is a correct antibiotic, and would work on her. No need to change it. Please wait for 1-2 days. She would surely improve.

Please wait for another 24 hours, and most likely, she would not develop fever.

You can give her Tylenol, to bring fever down.

Hope this helped
